BABY!

The beginnings of baby!
Week 1/2:baby
Fertilization has occurred, meaning sperm has found egg. At this point of fertilization all of the chromosomes unite and the embryo's genetics are determined.

Mommy
At this point in the new pregnancy the mother shouldn't feel much of anything physically, mentally, or emotionally because the chances are, unless she has magic powers, she doesn't even know she is pregnant yet!

Week 3:baby

Just thirty hours after conception, the fertilized egg undergoes cell division while it moves through the fallopian tube towards the uterus where it becomes a blastocyst or a hollow ball of cells. At the beginning of week 4 the blastocyst will begin a process called implantation which is when the blastocyst attaches itself to the lining of the uterus. The spot where the blastocyst implants is where the placenta,a protective sac around the baby that is currently a yolk sac, will form.

Mommy
During this time there is a slight chance that a mother may be able to detect pregnancy. Visiting a doctor at this time is encouraged to ensure the health of the baby from the very beginning . A doctor may recommend that a mother take in moderate amounts of folic acid-to aid growth of brain and spinal cord (its good to take these before conceiving a baby), calcium-for development of baby's bones and teeth, protein-to help create tissue in the embyro, and iron-to maintain healthy blood for both mother and and chlid.

Week4:baby

As of right now Baby doesn't consist of much more than a 2 layers of cells called the epiblast and the hypoblast  that will soon become all of the embyro's organs and body parts. Two other layers that are forming/formed are the amnion and the yolk sac. The amnion will be filled with amniotic fluid that will protect the developing embryo. The yolk sac will produce blood to supply nutrients to Baby until the placenta forms.

Mommy
As the embyro is implanting on the uterus lining it causes the mother's body to release a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) which helps maintain the uterine lining. HCG also triggers the symptoms of pregnancy, which are commonly mistaken for the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. HCG is the hormone tested in most pregnancy tests, meaning that the mother now has the option of taking a pregnancy test to be positive of her pregnancy. At this point many mothers are overcome with joy and fear of whats to come. It is very common that a new mommy to be doesnt know what to think at this point.
